8th grade takes second

The 8th grade girls played a pretty solid game but just couldn't score. Midway through the third quarter, the girls were stuck on just one point.

It was difficult for the girls to get any inside shots on such a big and physical team. They made a late run when some of their outside shots started to fall, but it was a little too late as the 8th grade girls fall 29-14 in their final game as students of St. Mary's.

Defensively, they had a few break downs, but none too drastic and they allowed a season-high 29 points. They never got into any rhythm and were unable to get out on the fast breaks, where they score the bulk of their points. By the time they were able to start hitting some shots, it was already the fourth quarter.

Melinda hit a three, the first of her career and the first one by a St. Mary's girl this season. Emily, Tianna and Melinda all scored 3 points. Tiffany had two nice jump shots in the fourth and Sally added a free-throw.

They finish their season, only losing to the eventual champions, so this loss is nothing to be too sad about.

Congratulations to the 8th grade girls for a wonderful season.
