5th/6th graders go to the limit, 8th graders lose first game

**Highlights Updated Below**

With the ball in their hands, the 5th/6th graders served for match point in the second and third set a combined six to ten times. However, each time, they were unable to serve the ball over.

Those faults overshadowed a terrific debut, where they should've been able to start their season (1-0). In the first set, Edwena served the girls to a first set win 25-22. They dropped the second set 28-26 and the final set 17-15. The final two sets went to tie-breakers.

They have a quick turn around as tomorrow morning they will need to play their second game of the year. Their serve receive was actually better than their serve, an anomaly in volleyball. As long as they start getting their serves over, this team will definitely be competitive.

8th grade girls take first loss
Some could even argue that the 8th grade girls played better their second game than their first. However, their opponent was also better than their first game.

The 8th graders lost in straight sets by the same score 25-15. They were able to bump, set and occasionally spike the ball and had several long rallies. However, the other team had several players who were able to spike as well.

Their serves tonight were also more consistent than their first game. At (1-1), they might have faced the best team in the division.

Briefly: Michelle made her debut for the 5th/6th graders and returned a ball that gave St. Mary's a point...Good to see some of the class of 2010 attend tonight's 8th grade game. Tiffany and Emily were in attendance. Melinda also showed up, only because her sister is Serina...Emily is day-to-day with a sprained ankle.
