4th Grade Midseason Report
The 4th grade boys are actually placed in an average division, not too strong, but not too weak. Their competition seems to be around the right level, but so far they have only been able to pull out one victory.
They have been in every single game and could've won every single game, but they haven't. Problem? They fail to do the little things that need to be done to win a game. Making lay-ups when they have the chance, getting back in time for a rebound, not turning the ball over.
In the Flame tournament, they lost both games by a basket. In the regular season, all their defeats are single digit losses.
This team has the talent, but the same problem that plagued them in soccer, plagues them when they play basketball. They have trouble focusing and don't always work together as a team. Even in the game they won, they had plenty of fast breaks, but the ball was never passed up court. So instead of the one good hard pass to set up an easy lay-up, a shot from about 16 feet is made instead.
Why make it so hard on yourselves to score?
We must remember they are still 4th graders, and their best years are still ahead of them. But if they could get it together now, this can be a dangerous team in the present and future, instead of just waiting for the future.
