If the Red Team we know shows up, they'll be fine. If the Red Team from the last three games shows up, we might have some trouble.
It's dangerous and also could be good to play to the level of your competition. In games against the top 5 teams in their division, the Red Team played like they were capable of.
Against the bottom three teams of the division, they played down to a lower level.
This could bode well because tomorrow night they will need to elevate their play if they want to return to the championship.
Going into this year, it was not going to be an easy task, as the jump between divisions is always drastic. For the most part, these 8th graders have handled it quite well.
And now it comes down to their final two basketball games in a St. Mary's uniform as there is no looking back after tomorrow night.
Their keys to victory comes from their defense and ability to rebound. When they can do both, they are able to get out on the run, get fast breaks, and open looks.
Having 7 players also gives them some wiggle room if one player isn't particularly feeling strong, there is an option to sub them out, something not available last season.
As a whole, they shoot the ball pretty well and are usually consistent from the free throw line. It's likely the game will come down to a few possessions, a handful of lay-ups and free throws, so the margin of error is slim.
One thing is for sure, it'll be an exciting night either way.
Don't miss it.
