The 5th and 6th graders finally got on the field for a game this afternoon, braving the high winds and cold. You could tell it was their first game as they were a bit lost the first few innings.

However, they did get the hang of it and put together a total of 6 runs, but they were not enough to come away with a win.

Hunter, Isabella, Brandon and Thomas all collected their first base hits.

Brandon struck out 4 in the first inning and got the start. Justin relieved him to finish the game and struck out a total of 10 batters.

When the catcher does not glove the third strike, the runner can run to first base. That's pretty much how the other team got on base all day long.

Being it is the 5th/6th grade's first game, they weren't too sure what to do and haven't practiced throwing to first, so it was a lot of trial and error out there.

They did however make a few of those plays later on in the game.

It was as nice effort, and it took some time for all of the players to get used to game situations so hopefully they were able to learn from this and build upon game one.

On the mound, Brandon actually struck out the first three batters of the game. But the last two hitters were able to reach on errors after the dropped third strike.

They play again this Sunday at 3:30 p.m.
