It didn't matter that their margin of defeat was the smallest this season, because when the buzzer sounded at the end of the fourth quarter, it was another loss for the 8th grade boys.
They have now gone winless in seven games this season and have only next Saturday to pick up a win.
Moises hit a 3 pointer and had six points, while Kenny and Garrick both chipped in with two points each in a 23-10 loss.
Following the game, the team met for close to 20 minutes reflecting on the loss opportunities and what feels like a lost season.
It's obvious the 8th graders are in a division where the talent is far superior, but their play still needs to be better than it has been over the course of the year.
The score was 9-0 after the first quarter and 15-2 at halftime.
For some reason this team takes a long time to get going and it shows. They had a modest outburst in the fourth when they had 6 points.
This game was winnable in the sense that the 8th graders got off a lot of shots, but their rebounds and defense was lacking again.
It seems like the basketball IQ and instinct is still not there since a lot of the players are in the wrong places at the wrong time. They had some chances downlow but their post players were unable to score consistently.
On the positive side, losing by only 13 is an improvement, but nobody on the team feels good about improvement when the goal is to compete hard and pick up a victory.
They'll have one week left to prove everybody wrong.
