After their best game last Friday night, the 3rd/4th grade girls could not carry their momentum into Saturday afternoon's match, as they were handed their most lopsided defeat of the season in two sets, 25-10, 25-8.
It was not a good sight to see as the girls were faulting on almost every serve and unable to return many balls on serve receive.
Right from the get go, the girls were already behind the eight ball, faulting on the first serve, which set the tone for the entire match.
Justina and Amy had their small bright spots in the first set when they both served a few balls consecutively over the net, however that's as positive as it got for the girls.
A lot of it comes down to inexperience, but midway through the season, a better effort and outcome was expected on Saturday.
Many teams fall into the trap of playing a good game, and then forgetting the hard work they put in to get to where they were. So the game after, their performance is lackluster, as evident by not only the 3rd/4th grade Saturday, but many of the other teams around the school as well.
Just because you do good in one game, doesn't automatically translate to the next, and unfortunately, some of the St. Mary's teams, such as the 3rd/4th graders had to learn it the hard way.
Ariana did make her debut and played in her first volleyball game.
