Cynthia back to form in latest 8th grade win

The Cynthia everyone is used to seeing on the basketball court finally showed up Saturday afternoon in Pacifica.

She had a season high 14 points, 10 coming in the 3rd quarter, as she carried the 8th grade to their fifth straight victory to start the season, 21-11.

After struggling for the better part of the season, she put the team on her shoulders in the final seven minutes of the game and put the game away for good.

Cynthia played aggressive and with confidence, something she had been sorely lacking for the first half of the season. When she can put it together, she's one of the most talented St. Mary's girls' on the court.

The first half was incredibly sluggish by both sides, with constant jump balls and sloppy passes on both ends.

Many of the 8th graders still have not been able to remove the glue from the bottom of their shoes, as they are still stuck to the ground when they take shots.

One thing these girls are good at is being gritty as other teams do not want to play against them. The 8th graders fight for the ball from top to bottom, and a lot of times, it's their toughness that gives them an advantage in games.

Melina, Wendy and Amy all had a bucket each, while Julia accounted for one point on a free throw.
