3rd/4th graders make debut

The 3rd/4th graders came within points of winning the first set in their first game ever Saturday afternoon at St. Emydius.

It was a tightly contested first set which saw the girls fall just short and drop set one 25-23. They then went on to lose the second set 25-15.

Avalon, one of the two girls on the team with prior playing experience, served the girls out to a 4-0 lead. Avalon and Sara are the only two 4th graders on a team of five other 3rd graders. So in a span of less than a week, they've gone from being the youngest two on the team to the oldest.

They are also now the leaders who will need to set examples for the younger girls.

Rebecca and Catharine did a solid job in their first game, serving several balls over. Not only did they do that, but the team as a whole didn't rely solely on serves, but also scored a lot of points on serve receive.

It was a good performance for game one and a bright future lies ahead.
