7th grade back in the championship

With seconds remaining in the first half, Derek double pumped and threw up a three-pointer that banked in -- Happy Valentine's Day.

The 7th grade boys are going to the championship for the third straight year, and will look to repeat as champions Tuesday night at Mission Dolores, thanks to a 32-19 win.

After jumping out to a 20-7 halftime lead, the 7th grade scored only 2 points the entire 3rd quarter. Luckily, the defense was solid as they held their opponent to only 3 in the third.

The 7th grade really took over in the second quarter, when Tom, off the bench scored 6 points to give the team some cushion. They were doing it on the fast break, and West Portal had no answer for St. Mary's.

It was a great team effort, and they will need to do exactly what they did today in the finals.

Notes: Kevin absolutely laid out a member of the other team with a screen...There was definite hustle from the 7th grade as many of the players dove on the ground, trying to get the balls...Mrs. Chan made a cameo appearance.

Championship Tuesday
