8th grade finds way to win

***HIGHLIGHTS UPDATED***

A win is a win.

Sluggish and rugged they were, but the 8th grade managed to pull out a 22-17 victory tonight and positioned themselves nicely for a playoff berth. Their record now stands at (4-2) with two games to play.

Derek and Tommy both had 8 points each, while Elliot played a strong game as well chipping in 4 points off the bench.

The 8th graders built a 20-12 lead going into the third quarter on some timely scoring. The game really had no flow and the 8th graders were unable to generate much on the fast break or anything inside as the other team's center was too big. They tried to pound it inside, but the big tree stood in the way, blocking numerous shots and altering a bunch of others.

They had their typical hiccups, not boxing out and turnovers, but for the most part, they held their ground. With the offense not clicking, the class of 2010 did just enough other things to maintain their lead.

With less than a minute left, the 8th graders had the ball and a five point lead, yet the other team didn't foul. By the time they got fouled, there was 3.7 seconds left on the clock and the game was as good as over.

The first two points of the game were off of a nice strip by Brandon, who then banked in his shot.
