Rough start to girls regular season

It was not a good night to be a girl on the St. Mary's basketball team.

The 8th grade started the night with a poor performance and lost an easily winnable game 25-19.

They turned the ball over unofficially 17 times and were only 3-for-10 from the free throw line.

The girls were up 17-14 at one point in the fourth, and proceeded to score two points the rest of the way. Their fundamentals right now just aren't sound and the mistakes are catching up to them.

In lower divisions, they were able to get away with these flaws, but now in division 8-4, the errors are magnified.

Marissa had 13 points, but even she wasn't able to take control of this game. They got only 6 points from the rest of the team.

With under a minute to go, the 8th grade girls trailed 21-19, but they just couldn't get the equalizer.

Rebounding was again a problem, as they were out-hustled and outworked to almost every loose ball.

Serina, Gavrielle and Catharine combined for the rest of the team's 6 points.

5th and 6th/7th grade lose debuts
Both the 5th and 6th/7th grade teams lost in their first games ever in CYO.

Fiona did score the first two points in her career in the first half, while Jamie hit a nice jumper in the second half.

Maria-Pamela scored 4 points in the 7th grade loss, while Jocelyn added a free throw to complete the scoring.
