8th grade drops heartbreaker, lose by one

The 8th grade can't seem to catch any breaks lately.

They led by six points in the 4th quarter but were unable to close it out once again and fell by one, 32-31, a game they needed to win to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Now, they are all but toast in the playoff chase, needing to win next week, and hoping for several other teams to lose. The best they can finish the season is at .500. Their fate is not longer in their own hands.

Thomas had a chance to give the 8th graders a lead with under a minute to play but missed his first free throw on the one-and-one.

Free throws have plagued the twin for weeks now.

On the next possession, the other team drew a foul, driving hard to the basket and hit one of two free throws to make it a one point game.

With a chance to win the game, the boys turned the ball over and likely a final season of basketball without a post-season berth.

Raymond did return back to his normal form and scored a game high 18 points.
