5th grade gives up lead in final seconds, fall in overtime

This was their game to win.

The 5th grade went ahead 12-11 on a shot by Grant with less than 20 seconds left in the fourth quarter of the second round of the Flame Tournament. They even got the ball back with 16.6 seconds left on the clock, only to turn the ball right over to the other team in the backcourt.

Because they had 9 fouls, their next one meant the other team would take two foul shots no matter what kind of foul it was. And of course, the 5th grade fouled the other team about 16 feet away from the basket.

The opposing player went to the line, missed the first shot, and then made the next one, sending the game into overtime.

In OT, another foul that was on the floor, resulted in the only point of the overtime period. The final score read 13-12, in a game that the 5th grade absolutely should've won.

With the loss, they were eliminated from the Flame Tournament.

Joseph made his first shot of the year in the first half.
