4th grade comes out on top in OT, 8th grade White Team wins as well

**Highlights Updated**

Jonathan scored 4 of his 14 points in overtime to lead the 4th grade to a 16-12 win in their first game of the season.

This was also the first game ever played, as last year the 4th graders played up with the now 5th grade. Jason scored the other two points.

The game was close throughout and the 4th graders found themselves down with 26 seconds left in the game. But their defensive pressure forced a turnover and Jonathan soared toward the hoop for a game-tying lay-up to send the game to overtime.

Right off the jump ball, Jason tapped the ball ahead to Jonathan who scored an easy lay-up on an and-one, to give the 4th grade the lead.

The other team had a chance to tie with less than 20 seconds left, but the ball bounced off the rim and into the hands of Jonathan who went the other way to seal it with the final two points of the game.

White team romps in game one
In their first game under rookie head coach John Wang, the 8th grade White Team picked up victory number one of the season in a convincing 21-12 win.

They got off to a quick start, scoring right off the jump ball when Calson tapped the ball right to Mark, who took it in for the first of his 12 points on the night.

It was a solid start to the season for a team that did not play very well in the CYO Preseason Tournament, so getting a win on opening night was a big confidence boost for the team.

Calson added 6 points and was pretty consistent on the boards, grabbing rebounds and then outletting them to Mark. The bulk of Mark's points all came on the fast break.

Their defense shouldn't be overlooked tonight either as they shut out the other team in quarters one and three. And if it wasn't for two pretty lucky three-point shots from the other team, they might've held the other team to single digits.

According to coach Wang, Robert and Timothy both played great on the defensive end and weren't out of position. Their good defense up top forced the other team to take bad shots, which led to easy transition points for the White Team.

Last season, the White Team also won their first game of the year, only to lose the next four straight. But this year is not last year -- at least we hope not.
