DeMarillac 8th grade loses second straight

The DeMarillac 8th graders have now last two straight, their latest setback, a 33-16 loss to the undefeated top team in the division.

They trailed throughout the contest and could never overcome an 18-8 deficit at halftime.

The other team only had 5 players, but their speed and size was too much for the DeMarillac 8th graders to keep up with for four quarters.

There were spurts during the game where it looked like the boys were going to be able to make a game out of it. But the things that have plagued them all year were magnified against the best team in the division.

Shots weren't falling for the 8th graders, but their defense didn't help the cause. They were slow getting back on defense and their post players were completely out of position the entire night.

It was either the other team's quickness or the 8th grade's lack of jump in their step, because every single loose ball seem to fall into the hands of the other team. The opposition was also able to secure countless offensive rebounds, due to the lack of boxing out by the 8th grade.

Their record now sits at (5-2) but the playoffs are still within reach. With a win next week, they still will clinch a playoff berth.

But for that to happen they are really going to need to polish up their game so they could be clicking on all cylinders. Because the team they played tonight will be standing in the way.
