3rd grade clinches final playoff spot with shutout

The 3rd grade boys pitched a shutout and secured a playoff berth with a 8-0 win this morning.

Offensively, they had a slow start as they only lead 1-0 at the half, the points coming on a Brendan free throw.

However, they extended their lead to 6-0 going into the fourth quarter, thanks to a free throw by Calvin and two buckets by Brendan. Calvin later on added a nice bank shot for two of his 3 points.

A lot was on the line as the winner of the game would be in the playoffs and the losing team's season would come to an end. So the first year players answered the challenge and sent the other team home packing.

At (4-4), they will be the number third seed in the playoffs, going up against the number two seed. The winner of that game will advance to the championship.

It's been an up and down season for the boys, but they've manage to claw to .500 winning their final two games of the year.

The team has really started to come together in the last week or so, working together on offense and defense.

With four wins and a post-season berth already in their first year, this team could be destined to make some noise not only in the playoffs, but for years to come.
