DeMarillac 7th graders continue surge, headed to championship

At the midway point of the season, the 7th grade DeMarillac boys knew all they needed was one win to get on a roll. But never could they imagine rattling off five straight and being on the cusp of a championship in their rookie season.

The boys took an 11-6 into halftime and pulled away in the second half for a 27-15 victory, sending them to the championship game next Saturday afternoon.

Edzon had a game high 11 points, and has really led the surge of the 7th graders.

In his rookie season, he started off a little slow, as most rookies would. But as the season has progressed, he has used his strength and size down low for some easy buckets.

They are also cutting down on their turnovers, which plagued them for the better part of the season. With the mistakes at a minimum, other teams are not scoring as easily as once before.

Matthew and Vince have also been steady in the backcourt, and both contribute offensively on a consistent basis.

Up next is St. Peter Pacifica, a team which has beaten them twice already this season.

Tipoff for the championship is scheduled for next Saturday at CYO Serramonte, starting at 2:15 p.m.
