Girls start game with 4, battle throughout

Something extra comes out of St. Mary's teams when they are at a disadvantage in numbers.

The 7th/8th grade girls, who started the game with four players, displayed that this afternoon in their rec league game when they pulled within six points in the 4th quarter. But they did not get any closer and were defeated 36-27.

Victoria, Fiona, Jamie and Tiffany were on the penalty kill for the first half and kept the game close until Kelly arrived.

Jamie had a team high 12 points and brought the team within six midway through the final quarter. Off of a steal, Tiffany threw a pass ahead for Kelly, but they did not convert the lay-up. It would've cut the lead down to four.

Every girl who played got in on the scoring, as their offensive output was the most in the rec league or CYO.

What made this feat even more impressive is that they were wiped out by more than 25 points the last time they played this team.

The girls got off to a slow start but eventually came to life in the 2nd and 3rd quarters. Victoria, who had 6 points had a very impressive drive, going coast to coast in the third.

Fiona, Kelly and Tiffany both dropped in 3 points in the loss.
