7th grade hangs on for second win

The 7th grade girls improved to (2-0) with a 16-10 win Friday night.

Melinda had a game high 7 points, including a 3 pointer that sealed it with about a minute left in the game.

It was a sloppy game by both teams, and it had the feeling of whichever team could score just a few baskets in a row would win the game. Luckily, it was the 7th grade girls.

They led 11-9 heading into the 4th quarter and with a minute left in the game, it was still 11-9.

But Cynthia found Melinda who drilled a wide open 3 pointer from the top of the key that made it 14-9.

The other team hit a free throw to cut the lead to 4 points, but Melina iced the game with less than 15 seconds to go hitting both of her free throws.

Tiffany scored for the first time this year and had a crucial 4 points.

Cynthia, who was limited to only one field goal attempt in the second half, hit three free throws early in the game for her 3 points.

Wendy added 2 points.

No matter how you cut it, the girls are (2-0) and a team that has not had much practice. As of Friday, they still have yet to have a full team practice with all 7 girls.

How much better could they be if everyone was in attendance at every practice, is the question everyone needs to ask themselves.

Because even though they haven't completely come together as a team, they are still able to win games based on what instincts they have, so the potential is there.

For the girls who played last year, the two wins matches their win total of last season.
