Fast start enough for the 5th graders for second win

At the end of the first quarter, it looked like it was going to be another easy day at the office for the 5th grade girls, as they led 13-2 after one.

Their offense naturally slowed down a bit, and the girls settled for a 21-8 victory over NDV to improve to (2-0) on the regular season.

Lily scored her first 2 points late in the 4th quarter and Kaela matched her career high from last week with 17 points. Michaela also banked in a shot midway through the first for her only field goal of the game.

Ivy was great on defense today, and was a hawk to the ball, pressuring the other team's guards at will. Christine has also shown a lot of improvement defensively in the last several games.

The first two games for the girls have been easy, but they will need to rectify some of their mistakes against the tougher opponents in the division.

Their team chemistry is still a work in progress as a lot of the new girls are still a little bit tentative with the ball. A lot of times it's hot potato and they don't want to be aggressive.

Going forward it's going to take a lot more of a team effort to win games.

As for the good, Kaela and Michaela have developed a good rapport, perhaps the best between any two teammates in the last few years.

They find each other on the court and have only played a total of five games together.

On Lily's basket, a ball intended for Becky was deflected off another girl's face before it bounced right to Lily. She calmly banked it in, and then ran back on defense with her arms in the air.
