8th grade girls suffer first loss in OT

The little mistakes the 8th grade girls make finally caught up with them in a 38-32 overtime loss, their first of the regular season.

Despite holding a 10 point second half lead, they were unable to close out the game and were outplayed in the extra frame.

It was tied at 31-31 going into OT, but the 8th graders were outscored 7-1.

Even with the loss, the girls had their highest output of the season scoring 32 points. They also gave up the most points they have all season as well.

Part of that reason was their inability to take care of the ball.

The team needs more players to have confidence when the balls is in their hands. Right now, Cynthia is the only steady option.

And with the other team putting the Stephen Curry treatment on Cynthia, the 8th grade girls turned the ball over at will, mainly on inbounds plays.

Every team seems to have the same problem of having trouble inbounding the ball.

Yes, the person passing should make better passes, but a lot of times people do not get open.

The game was lost mainly on the lack of basketball instincts and the poor fundamentals that the 8th grade desperately needs to improve upon if they want to beat the team they played today.

This was a likely championship preview.

Stats are currently unavailable because their coach has yet to send in the numbers, but we hope to have them by the end of 2013.

Tiffany coached this game by herself.
