4th graders dethrone first place team

The 4th grade girls are on the cusp of their first playoff berth after trouncing the previously undefeated number one team in their division Friday night 4-0.

Offense has been lacking in the last two 4th grade games but the girls find a way to get it done.

After squeaking out a 5-4 victory last week, they pitched a shutout.

Their defense has been very strong the last two games and even when their offense isn't clicking, the defense keeps them in the game.

Sofia hit a shot in the 2nd quarter as the girls got on the scoreboard first. Veronica then added a basket in the 3rd quarter and that was the scoring for the night.

The other team played strong defense but their offense really struggled, evident by their blanking.

A win over the best team in the division, at least record wise, shows that this division is up for grabs and anybody can easily roll off a few victories to take the title.

After going winless in their inaugural season, the 4th grade can punch their ticket to the post-season with a win next Saturday morning in Pacifica.

Lose, and they'll need to hope a few other teams do the same before they know their fate.
