Warriors Opening Night, World Series Game One

Tonight is Game One of the World Series between the New York Yankees and the Philadelphia Phillies. Two former Cy-Young Award winners, given to the best pitchers in baseball, will go head to head with Cliff Lee starting for the Phillies and CC Sabathia for the Yankees.

Why you need to root for the Phillies? Because the Yankees are the epitome of evil and do nothing but buy championships. Their payroll is over $200 million and if they do end up winning it, it's because they bought the championship -- no fun in that. Root for the Phillies. Everyone on the Yankees is scum, aside from Derek Jeter, Nick Swisher and Mariano Rivera.

Game time is 5 p.m. and you can see the game on FOX - Channel 2.

It is opening night at the Oracle Arena as the Warriors will play host to the Yao Ming less Houston Rockets. The Rockets are also without Tracy McGrady, John Wang's first-round fantasy basketball pick, so they are in dire straits.

If the Warriors cannot beat the Rockets tonight, this is going to be another long season. The Rockets have no real fire-power and are on the back end of a back-to-back, losing last night up in Portland. There's no reason this shouldn't be a double digit victory for the Warriors. It is also Stephen Curry's debut.

Game time is 7:30 p.m. and the game can be seen on CSN-Bay Area.

Also interesting to note is that because of the Bay Bridge being closed, the Rockets had to take a ferry to the game.

Planes, Trains and Automobiles? How about Planes, Ferries and Rockets.

The Bay Bridge closed down on Tuesday due to a snapped cable, cutting off the Houston Rockets' route from their hotel in San Francisco to Oakland for Wednesday's game against the Golden State Warriors.

The team found out about the problem after their loss to the Blazers in Portland on Tuesday night. The Rockets flew to San Francisco and then weighed their options, according to a report on the Houston Chronicle Web site.

The NBA requires teams to take busses to games due to security concerns. With congestion in the Bay area due to the bridge closure, that option didn't look too good. The Rockets looked at taking public transportation.

"[The police] said that would be really tough," Rockets athletic trainer and vice president of basketball operations Keith Jones said, according to the Chronicle. "It would be really crowded with a lot of pushing and shoving, and a security issue with autographs. And then we'd have to walk from the Coliseum station to the arena."

A unique option presented itself.

"We looked at a lot of things and decided, 'We're taking a ferry,'" Jones said, according to the newspaper.

The team still needed the NBA to sign off on the bus option, which would have required the Rockets to leave their hotel roughly three hours early and disrupt the normal game-day schedule.

The league relented and the Rockets arrived in Oakland ship shape.
